Yaël Bitton is an independent filmmaker and film editor born in 1971 in Geneva, Switzerland.
Her early work as a filmmaker already explores social realities, and relationships between individual and collective identities.
Her first documentary,J’ATTENDS DE VOS NOUVELLES, is a short film that she directed in a psychiatric hospital, revealing how patient perceive their own mental illness. She later directed PAZAM,documenting the transition in the lives of two young israeli soldiers, as they are about to be released from their military service.
Lately,she just finished NOT FOR SALE, a full-length documentary.
She is currently working on a new documentary film project, DODIM.
For the last several years Yaël Bitton has been working as an editor, on feature films, both narratives and documentaries. At the begining of her professional career, Yaël Bitton first worked on numerous feature films as a script supervisor, including GIRLFIGHT by Karyn Kusama, and LISBON STORY by Wim Wenders.
She also participated in various documentary films as an assistant director and researcher. Over the last ten years, she has worked extensively in educational projects, teaching filmmaking to street children and in psychiatric hospitals, both in Europe and in the U.S.
